Sunday Morning Adult Classes

Our church currently offers three adult classes on Sunday morning, one that deals with topical studies, one that is called Lutheranism 201, a followup to Lutheranism 101, and one that is based on ongoing studies of books of the bible, currently Proverbs.  These classes are interactive and the leaders encourage and welcome participation by members of the class.  Not only do the members of these classes learn and participate but there is ongoing fellowship on Sunday Mornings.

St. Peter offers a number of opportunities to participate in the learning and discussion of Holy Scripture.

Topical Class:  A Study in Ephesians

Delbert's class has just begun studying a book based on Ephsians named Practice Resurrection: A Conversation on Growing Up in Christ, by Eugene Peterson.

"Resurrection is what God does, but practice is what we do.  We are very much participants in this growing up in Christ.  We get in on every bit of it.  But we don't get in on it alone.  The God-created community of church is where it all comes together." (p. 17)  To practice resurrection, then, is to keep company with the resurrected Jesus as he leads us into maturity...We don't get saved and then take over.  From start to finish, it's God's work in us.

This is an exciting book that elicits excellent conversation and opportunities to select items of interest and do our own homework on it if we choose.  "By means of Ephesians we get an accurate account of what God is doing and the way the Spirit is working at the heart of every congretgation."  (p. 17)

When we look at church in America today, what do we see?  Certainly the antithesis of perfection.  Yet the Trinity is at work to gradually bring maturity to church in the midst of "a congregation of embarrassingly ordinary people in and through whom God chooses to be present to the world>" (p. 28)

You are welcomed to join us in this adventure.
